The Nova Scotia Physician Achievement Review (NSPAR) program is the peer assessment program of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia. NSPAR was launched for the first time in Nova Scotia in February 2005 and continues to expand to include larger numbers of physicians and specialties.
NSPAR is based on a leading-edge, multi-source feedback process that offers physicians detailed and confidential information about their practice, through the eyes of their medical colleagues, co-workers and patients.
The College is committed to promoting a culture of ongoing quality improvement in medical practice and NSPAR serves as the backbone for this process, providing the model and tools for a self-directed program of professional development and practice improvement.
Managing schedules and appointments to better serve patients
According to NSPAR Program findings, long waiting times in physicians’ offices are a significant issue for many patients. High-performing physicians tend to pay close attention to how schedules and appointments are managed in their offices. This can increase the efficiency of their practices, provide faster access for patients, and reduce wait times.
